Good evening one and all, and what a pleasure it is to be in this seat once again doing Rotary’s work.

My first task is to thank our retiring president  George Rivas for taking the helm in our hour of need, and leading us through the maze of activities we undertook last  year. Mild weather at Christmas gave us a warm and cosy feeling whilst we drove our reindeer through the misty hills, and our youth activity flourished with George’s encouragement in shoe boxes, Christmas Story, Technology Tournament, leaving but one major challenge to find a way of getting Young Chefs out of the Misbourne School!

Thanks for all you have done George in keeping us together as a team fit for purpose.

Let us toast your health as we ease you into your retirement chair.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

As we look forward to the year ahead, we take note of the tasks our Global RI President Ravi Ravindran’s tasks has set us, including the Presidential Citation. Not surprisingly we are asked to increase membership by one, and to engage a female member into our club. This year we are asked to submit the aims of the club to Rotary Club Central, which, if done, will provide ‘Head Office’ with both our aims and our achievements as the goes bye.

This year’s annual conference for District 1260 is to be Torquay on 20-22nd May 2016.

I must mention my plans to create a Satellite club with in our area, and work has already begun to establish some interest within the Prestwood community. This isn’t going to be a quick fix, but should restore the strength of Rotary within our community.

Here’s to a great year ahead!     Gavin Plews, president Rotary club of Great Missenden and District.
